UK GOVERNMENT SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH CANADA ON AI, SCIENCE AND INNOVATION
The UK has signed two cooperation agreement with Canada, which will see the two countries collaborate on technology research and innovation. One of the agreements, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Computing, will focus on joint efforts to work on research and development (R&D) in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and essential component in the development of AI.
The agreement
covers four areas of cooperation, including access to AI computing capacity,
sustainability of computing infrastructure, joint AI research projects, and AI
talent development.
The second arrangement between the UK
and Canada intends to fortify their current association on science and development.
The understanding will see the nations working together on a few key
innovations, including quantum, semiconductors, clean energy innovation and
designing science. The arrangement incorporates cooperating on logical tact and
trading information on principles, administration and innovation guidelines
globally.
The agreement was signed during British
Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology Michelle Donnellan`s three-day
visit to Canada at the end of January 2024. ‘‘Our unique partnership with
Canada in science, innovation and technology is built on a shared desire to be
an active force for good on the world stage, ‘‘said Donnellan.
She added that the deals “deepened” the relationship between the two countries “as we commit to working side-by-side to address the defining technological challenges of our generation”. The UK government trusts the restored cooperation arrangement will increase endeavors to work with Canada on cutting edge Research and development, foster nearer ties on "commercializing advancement", and make it simpler to help the reception of arising innovations and put up business answers for sale to the public.

minister for development, science and industry François-Phillipe Champagne said
